A good concierge remembers that you prefer the quieter table, that your flight lands late on Thursdays and that your daughter cannot eat nuts. None of it was written in a brief. It was observed, remembered and acted upon, often before you thought to mention it.
We think this principle belongs in brand work. We call it the Brand Concierge mindset, and it shapes how everyone at AVAN approaches a mandate.
From awaiting to anticipating
Most client relationships in marketing follow a familiar pattern. The client briefs, the agency responds. It is orderly and it is reactive. The client carries the burden of knowing what to ask for, and receives what was requested.
Yet the most valuable input often lies outside the brief. A hotel director may not ask whether their LinkedIn presence sits comfortably beside the guest experience they have spent years refining. A developer may not ask how a sales campaign will be read by the architects they hope to work with next. Such questions only surface when someone understands the business well enough to see them coming.
Anticipating means bringing the next step before it is asked for. That is what separates a partner from a supplier.
Living the client’s world
You cannot anticipate what you do not understand. So we don’t describe a brand from the outside. We step into it: interviews, market analysis, visual reference worlds and the cultural codes that no briefing contains. If a client moves in the world of polo, we watch the series about polo. It sounds like a detail. It is where understanding comes from.
What our clients value most is simple: they never have to repeat themselves. When a new question arises, we already know the context, the history and the sensitivities.
Generosity as a standard
A concierge who only works through a list is merely an attendant. The mindset asks for more: strategic observations, industry insights, thoughtful ideas and meaningful introductions, offered because they help. We treat generosity as part of our standard rather than as a favour, and we measure our success by the success of the brands we work with.
Discretion
Concierges know a great deal and say very little. Many of our clients operate in environments where reputation is carefully protected, and not every project needs to become content. Knowing when not to publish is a sign of trust in itself, and we treat it that way.
Human by choice
Modern infrastructure and AI help us remove noise from our days: administration, first drafts, repetitive tasks. We use them deliberately. The time we gain flows into what cannot be automated, namely relationships, judgement and presence. Efficient by system, personal by choice.
Where clients notice it
The mindset is rarely visible as a method. Clients notice it in small moments: an email that answers the follow-up question before it is asked, a recommendation that arrives because we saw a shift in their market, a meeting that ends with fewer open points than it began with. Over time, these moments add up to a particular feeling, that of being taken care of in unexpected and thoughtful ways.
A concierge does not wait to be asked. They read the room. We intend to do the same for every brand we work with.
